UT and the University of the West Indies, Jamaica - 2004

(Click on picture for enlarged view and description.)

May, 2004 marked the first student study tour to Jamaica, West Indies.  Based at the University of the West Indies, Mona (Kingston) campus, the tour of agricultural and other economic enterprises exposed the students to areas of the Jamaican agricultural sector including coffee, bananas, beef cattle, vegetables, poultry, the intricacies of bee keeping, and aquaculture. In each case, they learned about production and marketing as well as the importance of each enterprise to the economy of Jamaica. They were also introduced to the research capabilities of the Ministry of Agriculture as well as the Caribbean Agricultural Research Development Institute (located on the campus of the University of the West Indies).
