Thursday, August 9
Arrive in Mexico City. Taxi to Hotel Corinto. Walking tour of downtown Mexico City. 

 
Friday, August 10
Morning:  Visit Abasto Food Center, wholesale distribution center for all of Mexico City.  Visit CIMMYT, International Center for Improvement of Corn and Wheat.  Afternoon:  Visit National Anthropological Museum.

 
Saturday, August 11
Travel to Querétaro City.  Tour of "the Ranch"--CAETEC, the Experiment Station of UT's university partner in Mexico, Instituto Tecnológico des Estudios Superiores de Monterrey (ITESM). 
Afternoon:  TEC Querétaro Campus tour.

 

 
Sunday, August 12
Tour of San Miguel Group (part of international company, Monterrey Mushrooms of Watsonville, CA).  Tour San Miguel de Allende, a retirement town for many US natives. 

 

 
Monday, August 13
Morning:  Visit craft shops and winery, "Las Cavas Freixenet," in village of Bernal. Afternoon:  Visit village of Tequisquiapan; also, La Serpentina, a dairy goat farm.

 


 
Tuesday, August 14
Visit companies: Kellogg de México--El Tigre Tony; Expor San Antonio vegetable processor and exporter to U.S. 
Evening:  Party at home of Rocio Ferrer.

 

 
Wednesday, August 15
Travel to Guadalajara. Visit Rastro Delta (pork products) and Girasa (swine slaughterhouse)
 
Thursday, August 16
Morning:  Marinela Baking Company--part of the Bimbo baked goods empire. 
Afternoon:  Self-guided tour of Guadalajara.

 
Friday August 17
Agave production and tequila processing.  Visit Tequila Cazadores.  Return to Querétaro.

 
Saturday, August 18
Travel to Mexico City. Tour pyramids of Teotihuacán on the way.

 
Sunday, August 19
Departure for Knoxville.
